Yes, both of these flowers are the same orchid,

hot pink which fades to pale blushing pinkish yellow. |

Hi Lorraine, hope you are staying dry today! Thank you for the compliments...I used to have such an extensive & gorgeous orchid collection though over the past few years it has dwindled to a small mish-mosh collection, hee hee. They seem to do so much better in the trees than in the pots.
DeleteI wish I could remember where I bought the pseuderanthemum because I would buy a few more since it's really hard to find. Luckily I found that it propagates quite easily. I will gladly give you some cuttings if you would like. The Tahitian cap is becoming more popular as of late & can be found at some nurseries like Living Color in Davie that have more unique plants. There is also a red version called holmskioldia sanguinea - Chinese or Mandarin hat. In the winter both the purple and red varieties end up looking a little bare so they look nice mixed in with other border type plants.

I was telling one my Trini friend's about it and it brought back memories for him at how they used to fix up their families homes and the good times they had growing up there.
