Hi everyone, how is the weather in your neck of the woods? Snowing, icy, hot, rainy, humid...here in So'Flo (South Florida) the skies have cleared and the rains have stopped. Unfortunately just north of us the folks in Jupiter, Hobe Sound and West Palm Beach, are inundated with flood waters from the past two days of rain. Be safe everyone up there and wishing you well.

Just wanted to share with you what is blooming in our garden since it's an absolutely beautiful today!

It is a totally beautiful day here just north of you. We had a little rain earlier, but nothing like the other night. Things are doing well in the gardens and the cardinals were chirping their sweet tune this morning.

I'm looking forward to some time well spent in the gardens, hanging out laundry to dry in the sunshine, etc.

Cardinal flower = odontonenum strictum ??? I would call those Firespike. Common Names are so hard because anything can be called anything I guess.

Hello and thank you for stopping by! Yes you're correct, the odontonenum strictum's common name is 'firespike' and the 'cardinal flower' is our lovely Florida native lobelia cardinalis. Thank you for catching my typo, not sure what I was thinking there but common names can be quirky. If you think about it, how many "shooting star" plants are there in the world, lol...um a lot! Good thing I put the botanical name. :) Wishing you a great weekend!
