Dragon fruit

This is my dragon fruit and/or Pitaya (white inside, hot pink outside) that I ordered online years ago as one lonely little limb I received in the mail from a far away land.  It has gone through so much being moved around the garden.  It is now in a pot (and not very happy about it I might add) until I can find a space to grow it properly.  Does anyone know how to train your dragon? (so pun intended, LOL)  Seriously though, I would love to hear from someone who has experience training this plant correctly so I can finally put it in the ground. Anyone, anyone..... :))

  1. Hi Gardening Girl PB, the dragon fruit you've planted, its in a pot? Wow, i'm amazed. I'm not an expert in dragon fruit, but many people planted them in my country. They have always planted dragon fruit onto the ground. I believe it has one big stem, you need to tie this stem nicely to a real hard thick stick as they can grow massive. All those branches coming out from the stem, i believe they're strong enough to hold themselves but supporting them with stick might do as well. I've always wanted to plant dragon fruit too, but no space around. All the best to you.

  2. WOW thank you so much for the advice! I think the big wood fence posts will work nicely for supporting the plant. The wood fence may also help for the dragon fruit to grow onto too. Well I know what I'm doing this weekend lol :) How is your sweet pea vine doing?
